Lighter Sauvignon Blanc
Vintage 2021
Description
Winemaking
Viticulture
This delicious Sauvignon Blanc was picked from early ripening Marlborough vineyards to create a full-flavoured wine that is naturally lighter in alcohol. Enjoy its bright aromatics and fresh flavours of lime, melon and green herbs.
In 2021, the grapes for this Lighter Sauvignon Blanc were harvested in mid-March from carefully selected Waihoipai Valley vineyard site. These grapes express ripe flavours with fresh acidity when the grape sugar levels are lower than usual, creating a full-flavoured wine with lower alcohol. The fruit is gently handled in the winery to ensure bright aromatics, fresh ripe fruit flavours and bottled whilst young and fresh.
Summer was dry and mild with Marlborough’s signature high sunshine hours and cool nights delivering fruit in the best possible condition. The early 2021 autumn season provided Marlborough with very stable weather conditions therefore fruit was able to reach optimum physiological and flavour ripeness. The fruit was impeccably clean and the lower yields meant that the grapes packed a punch in flavour and concentration.
