Taylors Pass Chardonnay
Description
Vintage
Viticulture
Grown on the Northern Bank of the Awatere River, the varying gravel and silt soils of Taylors Pass Vineyard create intriguing, complex wines. This elegant cool-climate Chardonnay has fresh citrus aromas and refined acidity that is balances with a creamy texture and subtle toast from maturation in oak.
Low rainfall over winter and cooler weather at flowering resulted in lower yields for the 2024 harvest. The growing season unfolded with Marlborough’s classic dry conditions, marked by warm days and cool nights. These idyllic conditions and reduced yields produced pristine grapes with concentrated flavours and fresh acidity.
The Taylors Pass Vineyard is located on the northern bank of the Awatere River in Marlborough, the predominantly dry climate is influenced by cool coastal breezes and winds from Mt Tapuae-o-Uenuku. Soils range from silt over gravels, to stony gravels, with large greywacke river stones that reflect heat to assist with even fruit ripening.

Dynamic

Marlborough

The climate is predominantly dry and sunny, influenced by coastal breezes and winds, the Chardonnay produced displays subtle more lemon/lime and white stonefruit flavors, with mineral notes imparted by the stony, alluvial soils vines are grown in.
