Seddon Pinot Noir
Vintage 2021
Description
Vintage
Vineyard
Grown on the southern bank of the Awatere River, the Seddon Vineyard sits on an elevated and exposed site in Southern Marlborough. This cool climate Pinot Noir expresses a medley of crushed herbs and distinct red cherry and raspberry characters with a delicate tannin structure.
Summer was dry and mild with Marlborough’s signature high sunshine hours and cool nights delivering fruit in the best possible condition. The early autumn in 2021 provided Marlborough with very stable weather conditions therefore fruit was able to reach optimum physiological and flavour ripeness. The fruit was impeccably clean and the lower yields meant that the grapes packed a punch in flavour and concentration.
The fruit for this single vineyard wine comes from within the Seddon Vineyard. The river terrace on the southern bank of the Awatere River was planted in 1998. Whilst in a cool climate, this vineyard is protected from the cooler southern breezes resulting in a warmer microclimate.

Dynamic

Marlborough

The dynamic climate of Marlborough helps to produce rich and ripe parcels of fruit. Warm oceanic days concentrate the sugars and cool alpine influenced nights preserve the naturally high acidity within the Pinot Noir grapes.

Within Marlborough, sub-regions such as the Wairau, Awatere and Southern Valleys all offer specific expressions of Pinot Noir.
