We’ve put together a few of our favourite pairings…
Wine and cheese is a classic pairing that has been loved by many for centuries. The delicious creaminess in cheese, combined with the acidity and sweetness of a well-paired wine, unlocks something a little bit special as you enjoy a fuller flavour on the palate and an exceptional mouthfeel. Take your love of wine and cheese to a new level and impress your friends with these perfect pairings.
Creamy
Goats Cheese with Sauvignon Blanc
A fresh, crisp Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect complement to tangy fresh goat’s milk cheeses like feta or chevre. The tropical fruit and fresh green flavours in this wine pair nicely with this tart, earthy cheese and brings out hidden nutty and herbal flavours.
Aromatic
Gouda with Chardonnay
Our fruit driven Private Bin Chardonnay is the perfect pairing for a classic Gouda. The ripe peach and apricot flavours in the wine have a delicious intensity that will bring out the sweetness of this crowd-pleasing cheese.
Mellow
Mild Cheddar with Rosé
The juicy red fruit flavours found in our Private Bin Rosé are a match made in heaven for delicately mellow flavoured cheeses such as mild cheddar or mozzarella. The fruitiness and minerality in the wine create a delicious contrast to the creaminess in the cheese.
Nutty
Gruyere with Pinot Noir
The nutty flavours found in a firm cheese like Gruyere are the perfect match for the vibrant red berry fruit in our Private Bin Pinot Noir. Both cheese and wine have the right amount of complexity so as to bring out the very best of the other – a perfect pairing.
Triple-cream
Brie with Sparkling Brut
Triple-cream cheeses like Brie have a softer texture that demands to be paired with the crisp palate of our Sparkling Brut Cuvée. The subtle brioche notes in the wine provide richness and complexity that contrast and adds toastiness to the pairing.
