Rosé
Vintage 2023
Description
Winemaking
Viticulture
This delicious Rosé has lovely hues of pink with copper undertones and displays an explosion of fresh strawberries and pink grapefruit supported by subtle baking spice. The palate has generous fruit but finishes crisp and refreshing.
This Rosé is made from predominantly Merlot (60%) along with other Hawkes Bay red varieties which add complexity and flavour to the wine. Gentle handling and pressing of the grapes resulted in juice with a beautiful pale shade of pink with copper hues and cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks has created a refreshing and vibrant wine.
The 2023 growing season was unseasonably cool in Hawke's Bay which kept the Rosé grapes fresh with good natural acidity. Harvesting early in the season meant the natural fruit flavour and freshness was preserved in the red grapes we use to make our Rosé.

Sunny

Hawkes Bay

Unlike Pinot Gris or Pinot Noir, Rosé is not a grape variety. No matter how many vineyards you explore, you will never find a pink grape. Rosé is made in a similar way to red wine, grown from red wine grapes but with less time to ferment with the grape skins. This gives Rosé its recognisable pink colouring and a much-loved lighter, crisper flavour.
